Do you prefer helmet mounted flashlight or a flashlight clipped on your bunker and why?

Do you prefer shield on your helmet or goggles and why?

Does anyone know where to get boots that are second hand?

Where can I find second hand turnout gear that is either willing to ship here to the Philippines or ship to my families house in Florida so they can send it here? If the place is willing to ship via a balikbayan box then that's great since it saves on shipping cost to Florida.

Right now my Volunteer brigade is responding but we are lacking gear quite a bit and I am willing to try and raise some funds to get second hand gear sent here if we are unable to get any donations.
My volunteer brigade is Pasig Alliance and here is their website: www.pasig-alliance.co.nr/

I like the helmet light. This way I always have a light and I have both hands free. I also carry a light in my pocket. The light that is clipped to your gear does not put any light on the ground when you are walking. The light on my helmet is pointing down so I can see the ground where I'm going to walk.
Use safety glasses or goggles not shields, more protection. Look at "Pro's & cons of the bourke eyeshield and goggles" and "Helmet light or right angle flashlight" in "Tools of the pros: equipment & product discussion" they may help you. I can't help you with boots or equipment, it has been years since I have seen any departments giving away gear. I'll check you your brigade's webpage. Good luck.
I actually use both. I love the light on my hat because when I turn my head, I have light. I use the one on my coat as an "enhancer" to the helmet light. If you use both of them on the same target, it's unreal bright.
1. I like my helmet mount more than a jacket mount. Direction is more adjustable.
2. Shield. I think if you need goggles perhaps you should be in BA. Yes, I know that unfortunately BA isn't really an option for your Brigade.
3. No, and OHS bans the use of second hand footwear here.
4. Sorry mate, can't help there.

Good luck.
Thanks mate....
Thanks for the replies everyone, I appreciate it.
Thanks Tony, what do you all do with your footwear once your done with it? Do you throw it?
Aaron, thanks for the reply, I will check out the site. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks John, let me know what you think about the website. As for the gear, its hard to come across some gear but sooner or later we wil either get a donation or buy second hand gear.
i like to have flashlights on the helmets so i can see without holding one in my hand when i need my hands. plus i carry two extra flashlights with me one in my coat and one in my pants. i alway had shields on my helmets so i really couldn't comment on that. we do have people without shields on their helmets and really like it that way.
Thanks Kirk, what type of flashlight do you use? Is it LED?
Our boots are replaced when they show too much wear, or if they are exposed to Hazmat, things like that. In other words, they are replaced when they are only fit to be thrown out. They really are rubbish by the time we get a new pair!

We are lucky in that all of our standard PPE is replaced by the FRS - no cost to us at all. (Michael V has a fair idea about how we operate)
I prefer a flashlight clipped to my coat and a light in the band on my helmet as a back up.
I wear bourke's on my helmet, but it is a proven fact that goggles work better as far as eye protection for exterior work. when I am interior, my SCBA mask is my protection.
