Does your F.D. provide you with a means to identify yourself while off-duty, like a badge/ID card?

10 years in the Fire Serivice and you need to ask why? What if you come upon a car crash, in another jurisdiction with no one but a cop on the scene? How do you prove that you're qualified to render aid and not just some goober with a F.D. t-shirt on?

If that's not a good enough reason, re-read Jay's post!
we have t-shirts with our fire dept. name on them. we also have vehicle stickers
We have photo id that has our name and dept. the id is issued by the county and is also used as our accountability tags. they have a color scheme that states if what level u are. http://www.speedsville.com/Current/index.htm that link has the compleat list
Well in my department we have shirts with department Logo on them ..but as someone else said most of the city residents already know our faces.. all the children know my wife because of the Fire Prevention program
Here in Lima land the County issues an ID card with photo, signature and a thumb print. My department gives us a badge, I only carry it to show the students at the college that I work at that I am a Captain (they are surprised that an I T guy can be a firefighter). Anyhow I also have volunteer firefighter license plates and a growing amount of flashing blue. Also I try to get as much face time face time with the local state police and sheriff's. And of course we t-shirts and jackets etc.

I have never had to seriously use the ID/Badge yet, Lord willing we never will have an incident that big around these here parts

Most of us wear our dept t-shirts.I know I wear one 90% of the time. Our coverage area is small enough that most of the folks know who we are.
If I am off duty then I wouldn't have any of my necessary gear anyways. If I needed to access an area secured by the national guard then I am sure I would have my ppe and my id.

I guess I am the only person that doesn't wear fd shirts when I am not on duty, but I highly doubt a cop would question my credentials. Additionally unless the ID was issued by a state agency and not the FD itself it would have little to no meaning to a cop in another jurisdiction.
We have ID cards.

In soon to be 20 years of service I've been asked for ID once. It was by a SC State Trooper securing the area after a tornado hit in 1994. Instead of producing my ID I simply reached in the back seat, grabbed my helmet and held it up. He waved me through.
I have a second set of gear in my car that is issued to me. I have had to show that I was a fire fighter to a cop befor. Dont you see on the news about people who think they are fire fighters. I can recall one who tried to enter a fire and got busted just a month ago.
My full time FD issues us City ID cards and of course badges for our dress uniforms but my part time FD has neither. If we are off duty and come upon an emergency scene, where a FD is operating, we go to the OIC and verbally tell him/her who we are and who we are affiliated with. We then offer our help in anyway he/she needs. If we are first on scene, we tell the civilians who we are and we take command until an FD arrives. We then inform the OIC of who we are and who we are affiliated with. We pass command and then offer our help in any way he/she deems necessary.
Thanks Mike, that was my point exactly!
Sheriff's Deputy Storm Rakela testified that Brock was dressed in a firefighter's uniform with a heavy jacket, blue shirt and typical equipment.

"He said he was working for the fire department," the deputy said, adding that there were no firefighters in the area.

The defendant's 1977 Ford pickup contained helmets, an oxygen tank, numerous hoses, hydrant connection tools, rope and a first-aid kit, the deputy said.

This was a couple of years ago. Some guy dressed as a FF WAS ARRESTED for impersonating a FF and other charges.
