Do any of you have family thats in fire and/or EMS and if you do is it harder to keep business separate from family if both of you have been on bad calls since some people deal with stress differently.
It makes returning home easier sometitmes to know that my brother is getting the same dirty look I am... THAT is just SICK and WRONG right there !!!!!!!!!
I'm just sayin' that it is good to know that my wife is not stewing alone. Our wives are very understanding, and that was not meant to offend anyone including them. But sometimes as a volunteer, the pager goes off at the most inappropriate of times; and in those instances we still need to respond.
"THAT is just SICK and WRONG right there !!!!!!!!!" Hardly. William's comment was little more than a reference joke about his wife's reaction. While you're still on your high horse maybe you should have commented that his wife needs to be more understanding. That is the currency you seem to trade in. I'm just saying...
I know William it was a joke. It was funny. I should have added LOLOLOL to my post so you could read my feeling. I thought it was funny - thus the sick and wrong comment - which is a humor comment. And it was a moment of empathy - cause I've been there in my family when all the spouses are pissed at once... LOL
Years ago,my brother was a firefighter at his college,my father was Chief at another Dept. and I was volunteering at a station. I think it actually helped having someone close(like family)to talk over and discuss different calls.
SOMETIMES they would piss me off when they were chewing (ok, directing) me regarding a fire department matter and they would reflect a family issue into the conversation...
OR
when there was a family issue at home and they reflected a fire department matter into a home matter conversation
