My Training:
I am a State of Alaska Firefighter 1, IFSAC Firefighter 1, HazMat-Awareness, and State of Alaska EMT-3. An EMT-3 is an EMT trained in "basic" ALS interventions, including: I.V. Therapy, I.O. Infusion, I.M. Drug Admin., Intubation and other Rescue Airways, Manual Defribillation, Cardiac Monitoring and Diagnosis in Lead 2, and a few medications. I am also enrolled in Paramedic School at Kenai Peninsula College, aka The River.

Why I Joined Fire/EMS
Family reasons. I saw how the medics worked and respected it, found that it was what I wanted to do. And fighting fire is just plain out fun!
Top Issues Facing Responders:
Coordinating the training between On-Call/Volunteer personell and Full-Time personell and training time together.

Community understanding and knowledge of how the fire and EMS systems work.

Coordinating training amongst departments with Mutual Aid agreements.

Well, yesterday as I was driving home from running a few errands a tone out for a 14 y/o girl who had flipped her ATV came over my pager. I arrived on scene to help inspect her posterior thorax and help backboard. We loaded her and went the hospital. First Fire

At 3:20 am August 4th of 2009 a firealarm was sounded over the Nikiski Fire Department radio frequency. It was what we call and Auto Aid from the Kenai Fire Department (when there is a fire in the City of Kenai our department sends our Ladder 1 either to scene or to cover their station, the same deal is contracted with their Engine 3). My Daughter and son-inlaw live therein Soldotna. He owns Peninsula Overhead Doors. Great area there. Been there several times.
