Was looking through some stuff a couple days ago and found a pair of Redball gloves.Thought they were an extinct species.I may have one of the few pairs left in captivity.(Sure as hell wouldn't wear them though)

back in the day....well for me, thats not too long ago. But speaking to my PaPa, when he was fighting fires, there was no SCBA or half of the things that we take for granted today. He said that you knew when to get out, cause the tips of your ears would get hot. Now thats fire fighting " old school "

Thanks for the invite. This is a great group.

I can remember when we had to stand on the back bumper to go to a call. We had special straps so we won't fall off.

We have been on runs when in the open cab durning a rain storm ---- we held hall runners over our heads!

One time we had the lights go out ---- the spot lights on both sides still worked ---- So the spot lights were used for our headlights.

In 1983 we still had an open cabbed, gas powered, engine as a reserve engine. Also ran a Crown soft top telesqirt. It was raining so hard one day that the siren and emergency lighting shorted out. Didn't really need them though as we were the only idiots out in the storm.
