Lucky charms

What "lucky" items do you carry to beat the odds?
Do you have a routine you always do? A phrase you use when on a call?

I Have on my pager one of my buttons from my first fire fighting tunic and I wear a Celtic cross, Are these good luck charms? I realy don't know, but I feel funny without them.

I wear a Saint Raphael pendant. I'm not Catholic, but I work for a Catholic Hospital. We had a nun, great gal, that worked in the ER with us for a while. She gave me my first pendant and my boyfriend gave me the beautiful one I wear around my neck. Saint Rapheal "Stirs the healing waters". I frequently pray over patient's when its a difficult call. When its REALLY bad....I'll clutch my pendant and pray for St. Rapheal to show me the way.... it works....every....time. My patient's don't always live, but that isn't my decision in ANY case. Anyone who has been in this buisiness long enough knows we're not out there alone......it has nothing to do with "luck".

please dont think this is arogant of me but when i leave my house to go save someones life/property. I simply kiss my husband good bye, and tell him i love him. i figure. i either will/or will not return home and at that point when that decision is made, it isnt going to be up to me to make it .

I do however, have his picture under the liner of my helmet tho...hmmm

I have 2 things not luck just things. A picture of my wife and daughter inside my helmet and a shamrock my best man gave to me on my wedding day though its just a small black spot with a patch of green in the middle. In this job there is alot we give to luck but we all know who is behind the "luck" and if he decids its our time aint nothing we can do.
