You will notice that many of these websites will offer many other interesting courses that will be beneficial to your development as a first responder. Take in as much training hands on and online as you can. It will only help to make you a better, smarter and safer firefighter. I always have thought that the best advice that an old firefighter can give to a young firefighter, is to see that they make it to be an old firefighter. Always ask questions, you can never know it all. Take in as much information as you can. There is lot of training available out there. Here on Firefighter Nation is a wealth of information. Read the different profiles, blogs and discussions View posted videos and join groups.Become a member of organizations such as the National Volunteer Fire Council at: http://www.nvfc.org/join-nvfc/ , and your State Fire Association, http://www.nvfc.org/states/. They offer online training, webinars, seminars and many other benefits. Suscribe and read publications such as Fire Engineering, Fire House and Fire Rescue Magazine. Also view training videos at Firefighters Support Foundation, http://www.fireengineering.com/training/ffsupport.html and on YouTube. Pass along what you learn. You always want it where you got your partner's six and they've got your six. Which is military speak, meaning your watching someone's back. Remember fire doesn't discriminate, it burns just the same wheter your a volunteer, career, combination, rural, suburban or urban fire department. Remember, you are a member of the fire service and we are all one family. Take care, may God bless you and may Saint Florian always keep you safe!
