we use a polaris 6x6.  We designed the skid and a local welder put it together for us.  it has an 80 gallon poly tank custom made by an R.v. company.  it is welded together out of flat poly.  the ranger has the tool box behind the cab for tool and hose storage.  the tank is right up to the front of the box.  the tank sits on a frame that is bolted to the box.  a diamond tread cover protects the tank.  we have 100 feet of .75 boostlite hose on a manual crank reel being fed by a portable pump that makes about 100 psi.  the pump was about 800 dollars and the tank was around 450.  i dont remember how much the hose, reel, and the fabrication cost but all together it must have been less than the 6000 dollars some pre made skids cost.  i could send pictures if you are interested.  we dont have a stokes basket on it yet but plan too.  with water in the tank the machine will climb a tree and the skid still weighs less than the 1250 lbs. that the box is rated for.  make sure that you put a mop up wand on it with an inline garden shut off as 80 gallons or so do not last long going through a forestry nozzle!
