I'm not sure why only a couple news outlets are covering this story, but it is a big deal for those of us on smaller departments that depend on this equipment to be able to protect our communities. I…Continue

Our department is in the process of obtaining a Polaris Ranger. We're not sure yet if it will be a 4x4 or a 6x6, it will depend on which of them are in better shape. We would like to see some setups…Continue

Our New Engine

Started this discussion. Last reply by Josh Chambers Feb 10, 2013. 8 Replies

Just thought I'd share a few pictures of our new engine. It is an E-ONE Tradition Pumper on an International 4400 Chassis. It has a 1250 pump and a 1280 gallon tank with a 10" quick dump. It doesn't…Continue

I have a couple questions for you guys/gals on some winter rescue topics. Our local snowmobile club(of which I am a member) has greatly expanded its trail system over the past couple of years, moving…Continue

Josh Chambers replied to Don Catenacci's discussion Booster Lines, including High Pressure
"Our last Engine to have a booster reel was a 1981. Pretty much the only time it got used was for grass/brush fires. We have it in our SOP's that Structure, Vehicle/Machinery, and Dumpster fires get 1 1/2"-1 3/4" handline as a…"

Josh Chambers replied to FFN WebTeam's discussion 2014 End of Year Totals
"I'll share. We've made 56 runs so far this year, may see 1 or 2 more over Christmas but that will probably be it. We normally run 40-50 calls a year so this is just a shade busier than a "normal" year for us. We provide…"

"Hopefully the last update to this thread. As of last week the FEPP/FPP/DOD program is completely back to the way it was before they decided to mess with it. Thank you to everyone that contacted your legislators and made something happen here. The…"

"I know there hasn't been any activity on this thread but I thought I'd give an update anyway. It sounds like an agreement has been reached that will allow the transfer of excess property to FD's again. I don't have all of the…"

FEPP/DOD Program Suspended to please EPA

I'm not sure why only a couple news outlets are covering this story, but it is a big deal for those of us on smaller departments that depend on this equipment to be able to protect our communities. I did receive an e-mail from our DNR Forestry office that said they are fighting it, and asking us to contact our legislators and voice our displeasure with the decision. Anyone out there have any more info or insight? Here is a link to a news article out of Oklahoma on the situation:…See More

Josh Chambers replied to Jonathon Sabrsula's discussion Help Needed- Automatic Aid Dispatching Survey

Josh Chambers replied to ashfire's discussion Department Numbering System
"We start with our county number, which is 34. Then each town in the county has a number, ours is 7, that number is the first digit of our apparatus/personnel number. The town number is then followed by two digits signifying what/who it is, giving…"
