Ok now that I got your attention, my friends over at Globe Manufacturing have a wonderful opportunity for you and your fire department to obtain FREE (yes you heard correct) up to 12 sets of free turnout gear.

Globe has reached a milestone and is celebrating by giving back to fire departments in need.  In honor of the company’s 125th anniversary, Globe has partnered with Dupont and the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) to donate 125 sets of gear in 2012 to deserving fire departments.

Through this donation program, all-volunteer fire departments that serve a population of 25,000 or less and are in need of new gear can apply to receive up to 12 sets of Globe gear. Applications must be received by May 31, 2012, and awards will be announced monthly between July and December.

“All of us owe a huge debt of thanks to the volunteers who are the frontline of firefighting in communities across the country,” said Rob Freese, Globe Manufacturing Senior VP of Marketing, in making the announcement. “Working with these departments is incredibly gratifying, and we're so glad to be able to take this opportunity to improve the safety and performance of some of these volunteer fire departments with limited resources by providing their members with the most advanced turnout gear.”

“We are very pleased to partner with Globe and Dupont for this incredible gear donation program,” said NVFC Chairman Philip C. Stittleburg. “Globe is an extraordinary example of a company saying thank you to its customers by giving back. So many volunteer fire departments are struggling to provide adequate gear for their members because of financial constraints. Globe’s donation will go far to help these departments make sure their firefighters are ready when the call comes in.”

Globe was founded in Lynn, MA, in 1887 by J.D. Cleaver. In 1901, Cleaver’s brother-in-law, Courtland F.H. Freese, purchased the business and moved it to Pittsfield, NH. Globe remains a family-owned business today, with the fourth-generation of the Freese family still managing operations from Pittsfield. The company has grown into the largest and most trusted manufacturer of structural firesuits in the world and has been responsible for introducing many of the materials, designs, and construction methods we now take for granted in firesuits. The 125th anniversary donation program is a way for the company to thank volunteer firefighters for their support throughout the years and assist resource-constrained departments in making sure their members are protected with the highest-quality turnout gear.

Volunteer fire departments that meet the criteria are encouraged to apply for up to 12 sets of gear for their members. The application process is being managed by the NVFC. Click here to find criteria and apply by May 31, 2012. Check Globe’s page on Facebook for ongoing updates.

One small rural dept in my area was able to use this program and acquired 10 brand new sets of turnouts from Globe. Well Done!

regrettably, that donation not for another country...

Thanks for the heads-up brother, I applied for the 6 sets our department needs to finish outfitting our interior firefighters who are currently using gear over ten years old, some approaching 15 years old.  This will help us tremendously.  Thank you!

Same here Brian we applied for 10 sets a couple of weeks ago...

Thanks Globe

Yes this is a really great deal for the departments who get the grant. There are not many product manufacturer's giving stuff away their product for free.  125 sets is a good chunk of change. Good stuff from all involved.

REMINDER:   May 31, 2012 is the deadline

Thank you for info as my turnout gear was stolen along with my helmets (blue&yellow) in my apt storage units. I have not been able to replace any of it and especially my blue helmet, without going on ebay etc No luck there.. My insurance gave me nothing dollar wise in  terms for my gear replacement. So hopefully this Globe Gear , if selected.will help. As I have not been able to put myself back on active deployment disaster duty due to the robbery. I hope the people who took the stuff get burned bad. "What goes around comes around as I say" Thanks Again for the Info Be Safe Everyone Take Care B

You have to supply your own gear?  Your department doesnt outfit you?  Or is this for a disaster response team?

I hope you are able to get a set, and I hope whoever took your gear feels guilty enough to bring it back to you...who the heck would do something like that?  Sick world we live in...
