hi guys anyone have an idea what's the best smoke cutting flashlight?

There really is no such thing. Smoke is made up primarily of carbon particles, and there is no light that can really see through solid black flecks.
Some of the newer LED flashlights are pretty good in light smoke.
If you want a big, right-angle clip on I like the Big Ed.
If you want a smaller handheld, I like the Pelican Sabrelite series.
As Ben stated, your asking for a light ray to go through a solid object, and honestly, I don't know of any product on the market that can "cut" through smoke.
I'm a huge fan of the Pelican and Streamlight's. I carry 2 Pelican's in my pocket, I have a Streamlight 90* on my chest, and a Streamlight Vantage on my lid'. In any med-heavy smoke condition, I can't see just like the rest of the guys. In light smoke conditions, no smoke, or outside work, I love the setup I have. I don't even take a box light off the truck anymore.
In my own limited experience and understanding of what exactly smoke is comprised of, you would be hard pressed to find a flashlight that actually "cuts" through smoke due to the density of the smoke itself. I know that many manufacturers market their lights as being able to do the impossible but in heavy smoke conditions, none of them actually work like they are advertised.
Personally, I don't use a flashlight to be able to see through thick smoke. I use flashlights in low visibilty situations like light smoke, no overhead lighting, night operations, OV, etc....I also use the flashlights in order to be seen by other members operating on scene.
As the Officer, I am assigned to carry a TIC, 6 ft hook, haligan, and a box light(which is a Streamlight). I don't keep a light strapped to my helmet because in high heat situations the light always melts and is useless. At my other department where I serve as a Backstep Firefighter, I carry a right angle Streamlight on my coat and both have served me fine. I have never heard any complaints about Streamlight.
thanks for the info! how about the new Pelican right angle led flashlight w/ 175 lumes? and the streamlight pro tac HL w/ 600 lumens? which do you think is much better?
thanks for the info bros in fire! Do you happen to know where we can get used firefighting equipments like helmets & etc.? it would be a big help to us for we fire volunteers here in our homeland provide our own equipements and apparatus to help save lives & property!
You can try contacting your nearest medium to large sized full time career department. They might have equipment that is still in good working condition but has been replaced. You should be able to get a good deal.
Thank you sir!
We've had nothing but problems with our Big Ed flashlights so we switched to Streamlight ones instead and they work fantastic. With the big Eds we had numerous problems with the batteries, chargers and the flashlights.
We have Streamlights on our engines and trucks but run Big Eds on the heavy rescue and for the Training Division. We've actually had more problems with the Streamlights, but that may be due to having more of them.
We've had typical problems with both, but the Big Eds put out three to four times the light intensity - a big advantage.
hmmm......that's interesting! But anyone had tried the latest Streamlight pro tac HL w/ 600 lumens? The ads says it's very powerful!
I love my AL-5000 made by Advanced Lighting. I think they are called the FD-1 now. This is hands down the best light that I have owned in my 25 years on the job. You owe it to yourself to give it a try. My department supplies the Big Ed lights, but I don't leave home without my AL-5000. These things last forever.
Will look on to that thanks Jack!
