I am the Official Volunteer Photograper for my local fire department.  I am on my second year of doing this and am busy at times doing this between events or calls.  What I am wondering is how many of you or your departments have a photographer(s) and what do you do or your department do as far as how you do this or the call responses.  What kind of access do you have on scenes.  Any problems encountered.  All positive feedback welcome.  Thank You.

We have some.  They created http://www.dcfd.com and http://www.dcfire.com
Thank you for the links. Very nice web site. I will check it out.
To Michael P. Burke:  Nice site. Very easy to navigate. Nice photos right away. One question, who does the photography since no photographer is listed?
Our Dept. Photographer is also our Secretary, Sue Carter.  She does a wonderful job. I'm not sure if she took all of those pictures, some of them have been there a while but they had to go through her for authorization to be there.  We are with Company 8 of the SVFD.
Thank you for that information. Very nice photos.  I have been taking photos for my local dept for 2 years now and loving it.  I used to go with my dad to calls when he was on a vol. station just outside of town when we were younger and help with photos while he was fighting the fires before he investigated them.  I got to know a lot of personnel on the vol. district he was in as well as gain a lot of knowledge at a young age and that is why i have continued to carry on some type of participation in the fire-ems just not directly in fighting fires. A little safer.
My local dept. had the annual open house last Sunday and it was a huge success. I spent 3 hours doing photos.  Then over the last 2 days talked to 2 other depts. about fire photography only to find out neither have one.  One has a sister to one of it's members do it when she is in town visiting otherwise no one else so they are now interested after my stopping in, the other has no one and now they are interested when I stopped in during their 1st open house ever yesterday (10-15-2011).  I also checked out the website links given here recently and they are very nice sites.
I will be posting a photo soon from my dept's open house. It is the photo that I submitted to the local paper and they suprising published it (Very last page in smaller size).  I had another one published earlier this year FRONT PAGE of the local paper from a fire at the local public high school (same one I graduated from in 1999).  If anyone would like to see that photo also, just let me know.  Thanks
