Hi, I am currently just about to get on a volunteer department from being a cadet. I was looking for some input on what type of blue light I should buy for my vehicle and what company would be the best suited to buy through. Any advice would be welcome.

Depends on how much you want to spend, also you should consider checking on local and state laws. My state does not recognize "lights only" as an emergency vehicle, you must have 360 degrees of visible lights and have a siren. Plus, it is illegal to have a blue light on anything other than law enforcement vehicles. LED's are great though, they last longer and draw less on your battery and alternator. Just a few things to think about. Remember, having lights does not give you the right of way, you are only asking for a courtesy from other drivers, auto accidents are the second leading cause of death in the fire service.
if you are looking for something inexpensive and extremly bright. i recomend the mini phantom max. this is the website from galls(http://www.fireauthority.com/style.html?assort=fireauthority&st...)it is very bright and inexpensive. my friend had one put in his POV and it is nice, i am currently borrowing one from my dept. and mine is about a $270 light, his puts my light to shame. it consist of three rows of small LEDs and they are bright. it is about $100. they also come in a set of three so you can have the rear warning capability for your vehicle in case you go straight to the scene.
personally I wouldn't go with "Gall's" they tend to be a little over priced in my opinion....Try strobes-n-more...they have a web page. And definitely go with leds if you can...they will last forever and draw little current....I personally have strobes all the way around....Blue tubes in with my headlights and clear inside my red taillights....I also have a little overkill in that I have led dash light as well....they have a new led unit for headlights and you can check them out on the web-site......Good luck and stay safe.......Paul
Go with Whelen Talon, or Slim Lighter/Miser.

Strobes-N-More.com is the best online.
Before you purchase anything other then a light for dash or roof mount, be sure to check with your chief or local Emergency management office. Some areas only allow PD and Chiefs to utilize strobes in the front grille or headlights as well as rear lights. LED's are definately the way to go. Not only do they last forever but they also get noticed a lot faster then regular lights during the day.
GET A LED BLUE LIGHT THEY ARE BRIGHTER AND LED'S LAST LONGER.
If you are interested in a blue light I sell Led warning lights. I can get any type of dash light or siren that you could think of. I you or anyone else is interested just send me an email at shadowsstrobesnsirens@yahoo.com Thanks
Firstly, Good luck in the volunteer fire service.

Definitely check with state and local laws for your use. remember, whats good for an officer doesnt mean its ok for you to have.
Get LED's for sure. Brighter, last longer, less stress on car, compact, and are typically clear when not on allowing you to go into another state without worries of having the light installed. For instance, i am a volunteer in Connecticut. Fire depts in CT have blue for volunteers, while in Massachusetts blue is reserved for law enforcement and they will pull over someone over if they have a blue lens strobe and make them take it down.

Speedtechlights.com is very good, good customer service, comparably inexpensive lights, good designs.
They are their own brand. Not as bright as whelen but very good considering you can buy more lights for less money than even one Whelen light.

Strobenmore.com is another very good website. they have their own brand products which look pretty good and they sell Whelen products at very good prices.

Check out the rest of the market but be very weary of websites that dont show videos or have enough info about the light they want to sell to you. The websites i mention have good videos of most products, good variation, Good check out system, good prices.

Good luck,
hope this helps
i second that chief
If i where you i would get a LED light and get it from TheFireStore.com They have good ones there.
In support of the "Barely Heard From Group", my recommendation is no lights at all. At best, it may cause 1 driver out of 100(1000, 10000?) to yield to your vehicle. At worst, it will give you a false sense of security in thinking that everyone sees your lights and will automatically yield and you will end up in an MVA.

EV lights on my POV? Never had them, never will.
