I had an opportunity to visit with a chief in Siedlce Poland. A city of 50,000 they view a fire as a failure. Lots of focus on prevention and inspection. But also strong pride in what they do. The chief is in the sports coat. His priest (all fire depts there have one) is next to him. They are looking at the day shift
This is one of the new ARFF vehicles at the airport in Warsaw. 36 ft long 12 ft high and made in Italy. It carries 2500 gal of water and 270 gal of foam. It's powered by a 665 HP Detroit Diesel. It has a special high reach turret designed for use on a B787 or A380. Only $1.25 million USD.
Definately very interesting. Are you from Poland or are you from the US? I am about 75% Polish and I think I convinced all the guys here that Polish cooking is the way to go. I grew up in an almost all Polish neighborhood. At any rate, I am happy I found this group.
Zatrzymuja bezpieczny.

I was in Poland (as well as Hungary, Czech Rep., and Austria) about 2 years ago now, and I had the chance to visit a firehouse in Poznan that was just built the year before, as well as Krakow, in addition to firehouses in the other countries also. Very impressive. They were very courteous and showed me around and got me patches and a duty shirt. Was one of my highlights on my European trip. I will try to post the pics on my page soon.
