Is Silver The New Black?

Looking at fire company and manufacturer websites I notice more and more companies going to silver over red. Black over red has become increasily popular but I'm wondering if silver will overtake black because of visibility issues?

the gold leaf sets that off...my favorite fire truck colors are Black, Blue and battleship grey (pennington, NJ). purple aint bad and green (castle shannon, PA) is nice. pittsburg need sot go back to gold and back

Our engine is white over red.

I am so used to seeing those colors, I sometimes forget that other companies can have different colors.
