Sitting here at my cubicle on this cool brisk day here in the lovely Bluegrass State thinking about my recent trip and photo excursion, which btw was way too short, down to the Great Smoky Mountains.  As I was sitting here doing some daydreaming, I thought I would see how many of my fellow brothers and sisters enjoy and love this great place as much as I do.

Please feel free to share photos, your favorite places to eat, visit, and anything else that might pop up.  Myself, favorite places to go would include Clingmans Dome, Cades Cove, Roaring Fork Autotrail, and the recently discovered Greenbriar Rd/Pittman Center.  Cades Cove is definitely #1 on the list of places to visit with Clingmans Dome coming in a close 2nd.  Favorite eateries would include the Little River Pancake House, Flapjacks, Log Mountain Pancake House on Airport Road and the Old Mill Rest. in Pigeon Forge.

For my fellow photography enthusiasts, on my most recent trip down (last weekend), I've discovered that Clingmans Dome for sunset pics is absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!  For sunrise pics, Newfound Gap is great closely follow by Cades Cove.

OK now those were some very pretty pics. I have similar views when I look out my window. The first picture was from a camping trip to the Oregon Caves (this is what I saw as i got out of my tent), the second one was from the day trip to the Oregon Caves and the last one was a recent trip to the coast.

Tom Wat part of the Smokey's were they taken?

Pattie I love the Oregon Cave water falls.
I will have to upload some more pics of my trips.
Thanks Patti! Love your pics! Guess I'm gonna have to make a trip out west at some point. :o) Louise, the first pic (sunset) was taken from the parking lot of Clingmans Dome, the second (sunrise) is from Cades Cove and the last one (sunrise) is from Newfound Gap.
There are from when I went to Seattle, the first is from a cruise that I took and the other was when we went to volunteer park. This was just too pretty to pass up.

Flower shot is great!
I love photography.... It can be very relaxing.
Couldn't agree more Patti!
What is your favorite thing to shoot?
Love doing wildlife/animals and nature/scenery. Put me on top of a ridge, out at the end of an open field or by a stream/waterfall and I'm good for hours. Also a big enthusiast of doing lightning & storm pics. How bout you, what's your favorite?
I love anything that has to do with nature. I have tried doing lightening shots because we get somer eally good storms at our hose, but so far it has been a flop. I find inspiration in where ever I walk, from the caterpillar to the skies.....

You would love Oregon. One of my favorite places to go is the ice caves in Eastern Oregon. Like millions of diamonds.....
You're probably right Patti, there are several places I would to travel to out west. Hint on the lightning shots, when I'm doing lightning shots, I'll set my camera (Nikon D80) to the lowest speed setting, aim towards the general direction of the storm and open the shutter. It will usually stay open from just a few to several seconds. On a good dark night I can usually get the shutter to remain open for about 30 - 45 seconds.
