We usually go for 2 weeks and then catch about 3, just this past weekend we made up for the slow times and ran 8 in 2 days... that is a marathon for us lol...
I think once I saw the Netviewer, which shows all active runs with the department, go up to 20 minutes in the middle of the night. It's pretty rare to go more than a few minutes without our department getting a run though.
When I worked by my self(the good old days) back in 1979 I went 14 shifts, about six weeks without a call.Back in those days with the gas shortage we were not allowed to leave the station unless we got a call.
It was the longest and most boring time of my service.

My fire company runs about 60-75 calls a year. A couple years back, 2 years in a row for what ever reason(I llike to think because its fire prevention month, yet we dont do anything for fire prevention..lol) we had 0 calls in the month of October....2 years in a row! I am not sure tho how long the month before or after it was we didtn have a call tho. But definatly one whole month!!
