Hotel Fires

I recently took a trip to Universal Studios Orlando and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel. I got lost just walking normally through there. Of course the wacker i am, i thought about firefighting right away. I feel that these hotels are just mazes when theres a fire. The hallways just keep splitting off from eachother. It seems alot easier to get lost and disoriented in the hotels than any other place i've seen. Have any you had expirence in hotel fires? Im curious to know more on this subject. And how your firefighters performed under these situations.

This just notes the importance of preplans and doing regular inspections, both of which help with learning layout and hazards. In the event of an incident crews should already know where to go, where to stage and so forth. Standpipe connections are noted, sprinkler connections, alarm panel, fire walls, etc, etc. So really depending on where the fire is reported, the crews would know where to go and what to do.

Seth, not only are there hotels, but high rise buildings as well can be tricky to navigate. Just the other day the Houston FD had a fire on the 26, or 27 floor of the JP Morgan Chase building. Firefighters got loss in the thick smoke. John gives great advise, preplans are essential for those times.
