Hey all,

I posted this video link in Ralph's thread talking about "they" who drive like idiots when responding to calls.

This is for everyone who talks to high school students, Scouts, and the public about life safety. This is a rough almost eight minutes showing rather painfully what happens when you don't drive safely. If it hurts to watch this video, then maybe they can imagine for a moment what it would be like to be involved in any one of the crashes in the video and be responsible when driving.

The video doesn't pull any punches.

You were right Greenman - it is a tough video. But absolutely necessary for those who have the need for speed.
For those people out there that don't think it can happen to them, or they are very responsible drivers, and it is always the "other" guy - stay off the fn road! you have no right to be there - plain and simple! thanks Greenman for posting it. Hopefully it will be kept on the top of the list here for a while and not get buried in the rest.
People will debate what color fire trucks, scba, turnout gear and helmets should be but interestingly, no one seems to want to comment on this post/video. I wonder if it's because they all speed, drive recklessly and still don't wear their seatbelts?
I think this video should be shown in every drivers ed class
Verry powerful sad but true video
The TAC videos have lowered crash fatalaties in their province by something like 25% to 30%. I've heard they show them on television there. People need a little shock value when it comes to safety.
Amen.

Thanks for having the courage to say what others are thinking.

If you take exception to Mr. Carr's post, re-read it and look at your own behaviour.

I am sorry we lost another FF... but I agree with you Ralph.

Boy, that was rough to watch, but very true. I agree that this should be shown to all that are in drivers ed classes. I think I will show this some of the classes I teach. Good post Greenman.
Not a pretty video at all. But it is the unvarnished truth and I'll take Ralph's suggestion one step farther. Not only should it be viewed prior to getting your license it should also be required to be viewed every time you renew your license. I've been in this business since November 1978 on both Paid and Volunteer departments and as I have posted before, I personally disagree with lights and sirens on POV's period. After almost 32 yrs I have yet to see any tangible amount of time won by responding "hot" in your POV, or by "rolling" through stop signs regardless of the time of day or night it is or what type of call you have been dispatched to. So far all of the arguments for the usage of emergency warning on POV's I have read are pure bullshit. Before I get into a crap tossing contest with the younger generation (one in particular) I would suggest that you step back and listen to what some of the others are saying. It is the best interest and safety of the public and FD that they are concerned about, Its not about whether you are career or volunteer.
