11. My biggest fear is to respond to 911 call with a fire fighter down and it end up being my husband.
Be hard to keep it in your head he's a pt. just like any other until the incident is over.
I agree. Theres no worse feeling than doing everything exactly right and having the outcome still be bad.
I think in this case it would be hard, but I also think you would be focused because you have the extra drive to make everything better for your husband. Noone wants to think of a loved one in danger, or hurt, but when it does happen, your focus is much sharper.
Sometimes it is, but in some cases it is like all your experience and training just goes out the window!
I HAD THAT HAPPEN ON A ROLLOVER FRI, OUR MOTER ON THE EXTRACATION GEAR BLEW APART ON SCENE. WE CUT THIS GIRL OUT WITH HAND TOOLS B4 THE SECOND ENG COULD ARRIVE, PUT HER ON THE CHOPPER ALL WAS GOOD,DID WHAT WE TRAIN 4, SHE DIED 8HRS LATER , ITS BEEN DRIVING ME NUTS.
Having to make the call that nobdy else goes it the building to search for down fireman. That is a call that I hope I never have to make.
My husband and I work at the same department. My station is his back up station and if anything was to happen to him, I am the back up Engine/Ambulance.
That would be hell to live with,I concur hope thats a call I never have to make.
Lets just pray that it dont come to a bad day.
i second that!
I agree, without the well earned respect of our crew we are alone. I as most would die to save a mate, for I know he would do the same for me.
