It's interesting to look through the numerous photos on this site of members training for either confined space or rope rescue, yet so many are wearing full turn out gear (fire jackets, over trousers, etc).

I've always argued against this sort of gear in this environment due to the heat issues. I'm a big fan of overalls/coveralls. Lightweight, flexible, easy to mov earound in, etc.

Your thoughts?

FR coverall are the standard for us at Shell. In the county though, we still have guys in full turn out for a brush fire. I get so pissed off.
I think that depends on the conditions of the scene, so it may be used for overalls, gear bunker, fire jackets, pants or other PPE
We too like the coveralls. We also have pictures up using them. The team began transitioing two the two-piece Morning Pride USAR gear that is rated and has a fire resistant property. I have made several entries with this type and the overalls, and I must say that I am much more comfortable and free to move in the two-piece.

As far of certification, we have not been able to find any gear that is certified to this level without being two-piece. We have kept both in-service as our team does trench and building collapse as well.
Yeah. That IC should get kicked in the ding ding.
Also true.
Full FD turn-out is not acceptable gear for con-space, in my opinion when in certain atmospheres. However, if dealing with moderate temperatures and concentrations above the UEL I would be more than happy to allow someone in turn-out to enter, but that is a recovery at the point (most likely) anyway. Unfortunately...even the exceptions I try think of do not make sense.
confined space SCBA rope rescue helmet and rescue harnes along with coveralls
