I am a Vol. FF in Easton Maryland. i recieved my FF1 and First Responder from Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute. i join the Marine Corps a while back and have since been stationed in Cherry Point, NC. i am trying to join the local Fire Rescue Squad in Havelock. my question is would my MD certs transfer to NC, and what would need to be done? is it as simple as having them faxed?
brother ben you have to check with n.c. dps and see if they have reciprocity with md then if so they might require a test maybe not, not up on n.c. code hopefully they dont want you to test just fax you certified copies of paperwork and on ur way hope this helps be safe from cleveland ohio home

i moved to nc and they took my MFRI FF1 and FF2 certs
FWIW, when I moved overseas, none of my certs carried. I was able to "fast track" through the basic and intermediate courses so it was no big deal. Retaking those classes was really useful. You will know 90% of them cold, but re-learning and reviewing everything is a great way to think about the basics again. Additionally, you will want to learn the local SOPs.
I actually enjoyed reviewing the fundamental stuff I hadn't really thought about for over 15 years, and I like to think I'm a better firey for it.
