Ok... so this post isn't exactly rocket science and it's not a question just for USA firefighters. Where ever you are in the world, fire stations subscribe to fire department oriented magazines. My hunch here is that there are more fire department orientated magazines out there that many firefighters, myself included, have never even heard about.
So to both educate and provide alternative reading resources I ask you, what's your favorite fire station magazine? Could it be one of these?
and I know that without even asking, where most folks read the magazines...
BZY, without any doubt, Firehouse mag. Actually the ONLY one I subscribe to. Fire Chief, Fire Rescue and many many others are just sent to us. Thank you very much!
You forgot Fire Engineering, Maxim, and Men's Health. :-)
We do have station subscriptions to both Firehouse and Fire Engineering. I personally like the Fire rescue and Fire Engineering, seems to have more training and articles vs fluff.
I used to subscribe to Playboy, but discontinued it because I just didn't have the time to read everything in a month. That being said, here are the magazines that made the grade and still have my annual subscription....
Firehouse
Fire Rescue
JEMS
EMS magazine
I'm thinking about getting a subscription to Fire Engineering. It's really cheap, and their website is pretty good. I really like their video series, training minutes. It's a nice blend of videos with very useful tips on engine work, truck work, vehcile rescue, and EMS.
We get the NJ Editions of 1st Responder and FireNews. I started recently to read Firehouse and Fire Chief and have found a wealth of information in them.
My fav non-fire related magizines are Sports Illustrated and SportingNews.
