LOUISVILLE, Ky. - A Louisville homeowner's attempt to melt icicles with a blow torch has caused a fire that heavily damaged the house.

Sgt. Kevin Fletcher with the Louisville Fire & Rescue arson squad told The Courier-Journal that a homeowner in the Buechel neighborhood used a blow torch on icy gutters early Wednesday afternoon, then left.

Firefighters were dispatched to the home in the late afternoon and Buechel Fire Protection District Capt. Adam Jones says they found smoke pouring out of the roof. Firefighters determined no one was home and put out the blaze.

Fletcher says the heat from the blow torch caused the fire, which smoldered without being detected until it reached the attic and spread.

I think Ron White said it best when he said...." You can't fix stupid "
Are you kidding me....again?!?!?!?!? Come on now, that's 2 in a week. My faith in human intellegence is slowly fading away. I'm not a fan of the "common sense" statement because everyone's senses are different which makes it not that common. Are we going to have to include things like this in our fire prevention flyers and pamphlets? We may have to extend fire prevention week to fire prevention month.
