The Helmet Cam Ban
Some say helmet cams were doomed from the get go, some say they were the greatest tool used in debriefing and scene analysis. but now with more and more departments banning their use, are they dodging the lawsuit bullet, or are they doing away with a great "learning from your mistakes" tool. HFD has banned their use. Many have said that the recordings may contain info of personal nature and therefor opens the door to lawsuits. although that may be true, if its not posted for the world to see,ie.. WWW. and only used in-house for training purposes, I don't see a problem with them. Haveing a cam in a working fire has so many advantages, to benefiting accident investigation, to helping the new probie have a look-see at what to exspect, and what not to do. the only down fall i see is a potential lawsuit by a moron.

yeah u see with forums like this you get whats called new people or new members, some more acquainted with the use of forums, some are not, do to having something more important to do besides sitting in front of a computer.
And assuming because you are tired of a particular subject, every rookie or NEW MEMBER is as well, is a sign of a number of particular leadership issues. You could of used your 31 words to be useful and beneficial, ie.. giving your opinion and referring said rookie to more info, instead of telling said rookie of your frustrations, which had NO benefit what so ever , because at some point there will be a new member with the same question, and you will have to repeat your frustrations over and over again.
But hey, at least you said please. Have a nice day.

He was being helpful and beneficial. Use the search function, it's been discussed already, and all the answers and opinions you could possibly think of, and some you probably didn't, are in the other threads concerning this topic. Check the attitude at the door, have a nice day.

Where to start....yeah I would have to agree that as difficult as it may be to understand a new website, in particular how one would go about, I don't know...posting a new topic in a forum. That could be difficult. Or I suppose creating a profile, quite a tough task that and oh my the headaches to upload pictures.
Yet every day "new" members seem to sort it out and find their way through it all. I'll bet many don't even have a problem surfing for porn, but would they ever think that the little empty box with the magnifying glass, or the words "search" would in any way be significant or helpful? I would gather that not to be the case.
Rather, let's just jump in as though we're the first person every to have had an original thought and moreover, let's be all snarky and sarcastic while we're at it. But then, when you have as much as a whole year of experience under your belt, no point in holding back on all that knowledge and it's not like a battalion chief knows jack shit, or even deserves it. I mean, it's not like HE was elected to the position, he only had to work his ass off for it. Probably a dumb ass for having done it.

OK, I've seen this "bump" quite a few times, and would like to know if someone could educate me a little. What does "bump" mean when used in comments such as this?

"Bump" is simply a way to bring a topic back to the top of the forum threads without having to type something in depth. It doesn't matter if you like the comment or not, if you like the subject, type bump in a reply, and it's right back to the top for everyone to see.

If this is such a huge problem and annoys the know-it-alls so much, maybe you should put a huge warning on the forum page saying WARNING !!!!! PLEASE CHECK PAST POSTS BEFORE ANNOYING ANY PRESENT MEMBER WITH TOPICS ALREADY DISCUSSED TO DEATH.
By helpful and beneficial you mean expressing his frustrations my question brought out, then i agree. I would expect that kind of response from a rookie with no leadership training, but past military experience tells me i should expect more from someone with a white helmet. But then again military leadership training could be wrong, but I doubt it. Good evening sir.

Chief Waller was very professional and pleasant, even, in his response. Read it again. And someone with prior military experience, such as yourself, I would expect to act more professional and have less of an attitude problem towards those of a higher rank. I would know, I served as well.
