Hi, I am currently in Canada undertaking NFPA 1001 certification training and am looking at coming to Australia as a fire fighter.
Do you know if this is a recognised certification in Australia or would I have to go to the CFA Fire School in Fiskville?

hey. i dont think they will be recognized sorry. we are currently using the AFC module system.
if you want to be a vol then you will have to do your training though local brigade. (this dosnt involve going to fiskville) if you are wanting to become a permanent staff fire fighter then you need to pass some tests then you do a course at fiskville. hope this helps :D

i sure can :)
so down here we have different levels of qualification that any fire fighter may have.
these are:
wildfire firefighter
wildfire - low structure firefighter
wildfire - structure firefighter
structure - wildfire firefighter.
to gain these qualifications you need to complete separate modules. and you must start with your "basic 5" which are your wild fire ones. these consist of things like wildfire suppression, personal protection, map reading etc. then to become wild fire - low structure, you need to get be competent in operating BA do search and rescue as well as respond to urban fire. these can take a couple of years to gain, then from here on in its a long drawn out process that take several years most times. :) anything ales u wish to know?

Michael, I nearly fell over when I saw the Croation Football Association symbol!!! Why I didn't see it when you first joined is anyones guess. Oh, welcome aboard by the way :D
Vic couldn't have looked too well - Australian Firefighters - has been here as a group for a while now. But I miss seeing things at times. As I said above. Everyone does.
