Hypothetical Situation
Let's say that one day you,as a FF, were doing yardwork, maybe burning a small patch of grass, and then the wind picks up as soon as you light it. It then spreads to nearby fields and then onward. Obviousely 911 needs to be called. Firefighters respond and put it out. Question is: Is there some kind of in-house penalty for this? I don't mean fines or suspensions...I mean stuff like a dollar in the jar type of thing. or buying coffee and donuts for the house, or something along them lines. I realise a lot of ball-busting will be going on. Just wondering what other depts in-house policies are on this type of situation.

Oh, sorry I thought everyone spoke Wisconsinese. :-)
Pop = soda
malts = malts aka shake (ice cream, malted milk mix, milk, reduced down to spoonable/drinkable dessert...yum)
There have been some offenses which required "upgrades" donuts, floats, steaks...most small offenses are simple penalties.
1950's....sometimes feels that way :-)
Some more Wisconsinese..
bubbler = water fountain
stop and go lights = traffic lights
doncha know = don't you know

Yep...talking about the drink. Someone getting hit would be "busting a cap in their ass"....of course under Wisconsinese it is...."bustin a cap in dem der arse der hey"

I feel your pain. Been there/done that. Couple of gallons of ice cream settled my penance. About 20 years ago we had a FF who was finishing his hardwood floors. After sanding he piled the sawdust into a large trash can in his living room. He was awarded 'Arsonist of the Year' at the dept. awards dinner. He still gets a good natured ribbing to this day.
