Iam going to get a logo or something started for our fire department that we can place on our trucks i need ideas we havent ever had a logo or anything of that matter so i need ideas that i can bring to our meeting. The department is Wahoo fire and rescue we have been around for 136 years and we are a good department. we finaly have changed and got a good mind set in the department in the past 3 years there really is no more fighting or any problems going on and we have changed in every way possible. so i decided its time to come up with somthing to be proud of as a logo that is fitting for us. so any help is needed thanks

Most departmnets would use the maltese cross and add to it like the year started, star of life, extercation tool, hose and ladder, something unique about the area where the fire company is (a bridge, river, lake or a person's image) or station number.
You could put the cross in another design like a oval, square, a shield design. My company has a shield design with the state flag as the background, the cross in the middle with station number, the company name at the top and the county name at the bottom or volunteers in its place. We use it has our emblem on our units and as our uniform patches.
A lot of other departments and organizations use the state flag has background for their emblems here.

i was meaning more of like a bull dog or somthing like that away from the maltese cross. we have maltese crosses on our doors but i was meaning more of like a saying or somthing

Don't go with the common "ribbon" or "banner"....Hmmm...what about a Firehose with a nozzle on one end dripping water and maybe a stinger on the other end.....I like the saying..."Professionally manned by Volunteers Since1873"....Our "motto is "The Desire to Serve....The Ability to Perform.....The Courage to Act."
