Chlorine Emergencies Classes
The LEPC has been made aware of the availability of hosting 2 one day classes on Chlorine Emergencies. We are tentatively scheduling these for Aug. 1st and 2nd. do to the training equipment being in the area. I don't have locations set as of yet, but will let everyone know as soon as they can be arranged. Another opportunity for haz/mat techs to get their certification hours as well as the rail car class that D is planning. I will post info as it becomes available.

you have to have haz-mat training to take this class.I am just a firefighter and would like to take the class.i have traind 75 feet from my front door.

This class is open to anyone in emergency services. There is class room material for everyone that attends, the practical aspects will depend on your level of haz/mat training, awareness, ops, technician. There is no actual product used in the class, all practicals are under simulated scenarios. All firefighters participating in the practicals will need PPE with air paks and spare bottles. In the sat class, we have employees of a water department attending and they will be able to use this training towards their EPA C.E. training credits. If you are still interested, please call the LEPC office at 330-424-0861 and let me know what class you would be attending. Those completing the class will receive certification thru the Ohio Fire Academy.

The sad thing is it really may be the class they needed to save your ass. I think these classes could be scheduled during the County school so it could be a weekend event with more options.Open the classes up for counties that have firefighters that WANT training and start stopping stations from attending if one of their own doesn't show up without a decent notice. I'm going to buy a camera so i can be there and not have to participate ( free training without all the work) by the way -that's a inside joke for max and I. Could the LEPC really mean LACKING EXPERIENCED PERSONNEL COUNTY ? BE SAFE!!!

Don't worry we put max right into it on sat.!!! You don't think Derek and I was gonna let him sit back all day do you! haha But yes it was a really good class. It was disappointing to hear that only 3 techs took that class out of all the techs that are in the county.

I know max gets right into the trainings, I was talking about another officer. The class was fun and i believe there was alot to learn from it. BE SAFE!!!

Just a follow up on our Chlorine classes this past weekend. First of all I would like to "THANK" those that did give up their weekend time to expand their training capabilities - all 27 of you! We had representation from the following agencies; Columbiana Fire, Columbiana EMS, Leetonia Fire, North Georgetown Fire, Damascus/Salem Fire, Springfield Twp. Fire, Glenmoor Fire, Winona Fire, Liverpool Twp. Fire, and New Brighton Fire. As usual we had "NO SHOWS", those that said they would be there, then back out for some reason, their loss! A special "Thank You" goes out to Columbiana and Glenmoor for stepping up the plate for hosting the classes and their co-operation in the logistics. Like it was said, it was disappointing to see only 3 Techs attending the training out of the county. Where were the Techs that said they were interested in the County Haz/Mat Team? All Techs need refresher training each year, they missed out on 6 hours here and they missed out on 8 hours on the Rail Road Tank Car class which was held recently. FF's with ops training need refresher training too. All of these can count towards your mandatory yearly recertification hours. Changes are coming in regards to the scheduling of Haz/Mat classes in the county. These classes are "FREE", why aren't these being taken advantage of? Chief Griffin had a good suggestion, maybe we can incorporate this Chlorine class into next years County Fire School. Yes Willie it is sad to see so many miss out on all this training.. Sadly i had to miss the Railcar class... but i wonder how many will calling last minute beginging for training to kept their certs... -
