Bus Driver Helps Passengers During Fire
(AP) ORANGE, Conn. - Fire officials say a Connecticut Transit Authority bus driver led 25 passengers to safety just moments before the bus went up in flames in Orange.
He says driver Felaria Reeves-Brown stopped the bus after passengers noticed smoke and got everybody off unharmed.
Smith says the fire was caused by a burst oil line that sprayed oil onto the engine.
The bus was left severely damaged, inoperable and has been towed to the Connecticut Transit New Haven garage.
Connecticut Transit general manager David Lee says the bus' fire prevention system may helped keep flames from spreading before passengers could escape.
The fire briefly closed Boston Post Road, a major artery along the shoreline.
