This site is a great way to get Firefighters and EMS together to share training ideas. It really should stay at that point and we should be monitoring the members who do not belong in the safety forces. This site has husbands and wifes who both belong on here and now it seems to be more of a myspace type and getting away from what it was intended to be. Let the web master know who has no profile and just wants to make it a match.com thing. The way it is going we are going to lose some members who do believe in that one good site to be on to share station movies and pictures and to get to know all the BROTHERS and SISTERS of the fire service. Lets not let this turn into a rated R site and inform the web master of who these people are instead of welcoming every one with open arms. BE SAFE!!!

Dottie is correct...report potential issues with members, spammers, etc. and they are dealt with super swiftly..

Thanks

i agree with that. there is one person who joined the site because he liked it. there is a box to check on your profile if you are law enforcement. if you are only law enforcement go to law officer connect. but there are cops that are firefighters. there is pics and vids that can be eductional or just plain entertaining to the site. husbands wifes and family of people in the services or future members or people training to be in the services are ok but everyone else should be closely monitored. and i totally agree with chief and dottie. but not all the teens on the site are out do do bad.

Here's the problem, the header for FFN states that it is a Firefighting & Rescue Social / Professional Network. This opens the door for anyone to participate on this site and believe me, we have had some real bizarre stuff show up from time to time. You just don't know if someone is "posing" as the real thing.

As the webchief staff stated, let them know if there is a problem and they are really good at making the "problem" go away.

While I respect the opinions of (most)everybody here, I sort of look at this place as a virtual firehouse. It's mostly a bunch of dedicated, honest guys and girls who are lucky enough to be doing a job they love. We all get aggravated from time to time by the youngsters asking the same question over and over. We all have the same arguments again about boots, or nozzles, or dispatchers. We swap some stories and some jokes. We share new stuff we learned and other stuff we "heard about".

And once a week or so some "weirdo, wino or defrocked priest" will wander in and cause a commotion before they get tossed out.

But my 2 cents is we do a pretty good job of self-policing and I don't have a single bitch about the site.
so true... words to live by... and as always, very insightful for readers of this post...
I joined this site because I wanted to make contacts with fellow firefighters from across the globe and also share training ideas, techniques, experiences etc. Now there seems to be a lot of " I joined this site because I appreciate what you guys do, oh and firefighters are hot " bullshit. Thats great sweatheart and we all love to be appreciated, but there are sites called 'facebook' or 'myspace' for that. Lets get this site back for the professionals who do the job. I feel better now for having a rant !. Oh by the way, you firefighters are hot !, ha ha ha.
LOL!!! BE SAFE!!!
