The LA Times reports pop star wasn’t breathing when ambulance arrived.

The Los Angeles Times reports that Michael Jackson has died at age 50 after being rushed to UCLA Medical Center.

Los Angeles Fire Department Capt. Steve Ruda told the newspaper that Jackson was not breathing when paramedics arrived at his home and CPR was performed.

TMZ.com reported that he may have suffered cardiac arrest.
Jackson had been due to start a series of comeback concerts in London on July 13 running until March 2010. The singer, whose hits included “Thriller” and “Billie Jean,” had been rehearsing in the Los Angeles area for the past two months.

The shows for the 50 London concerts sold out within minutes of going on sale in March.

His lifetime record sales tally is believed to be around 750 million, which, added to the 13 Grammy Awards he received, makes him one of the most successful entertainers of all time.

He lived as a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 on charges of child molestation.

There were concerns about Jackson’s health in recent years but the promoters of the London shows, AEG Live, said in March that Jackson had passed a 4-1/2 hour physical examination with independent doctors.

A life in music
Jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana, the seventh of nine children. Five Jackson boys — Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael — first performed together at a talent show when Michael was 6. They walked off with first prize and went on to become a best-selling band, The Jackson Five, and then The Jackson 5.

Jackson made his first solo album in 1972, and released “Thriller” in 1982, which became a smash hit that yielded seven top-10 singles. The album sold 21 million copies in the United States and at least 27 million worldwide.

The next year, he unveiled his signature “moonwalk” dance move while performing “Billie Jean” during an NBC special.

In 1994, Jackson married Elvis Presley’s only child, Lisa Marie, but the marriage ended in divorce in 1996. Jackson married Debbie Rowe the same year and had two children, before splitting in 1999. The couple never lived together.

Jackson has three children named Prince Michael I, Paris Michael and Prince Michael II, known for his brief public appearance when his father held him over the railing of a hotel balcony, causing widespread criticism.

Thanks Mike.

It's easy to get caught up in all of the jokes floating around and forget that MJ really did some good in the world in spite of the allegations of misbehaviour. Stay safe!

For what it's worth, the Santa Barbara County District Attorney's office threw everything at Michael and a jury found him totally clear of all charges, good enough for me... I tend to have a lot of faith in our criminal justice system. Couple this with friends of mine who worked around the guy that said he was good people, just very shy and not the monster portrayed by the media...
Suppose they will rename Old Ridge Road in Gary IN. to Michael Jackson Blvd
heres the thing. opinions or not you have to admit there was something wrong with him, which could have led to him doing bad things to kids. there are only a few people who know the truth. BUT................
After being accused so many time you have to think there is at least someting not right going on there. maybe not as bad as it seemed but still not good.
AND
if the truth does come out and it is bad, are people still going to defend him with the "but he did sooo many good things"
because you know this country would S*** if everyone defended the child molesting priests by saying "yes they abused children but come on, he did so much good for the community and world."
just a rant on my part. hopefully this wont p*** people off but im sure it will.

stay safe

It's hard to stick up for the guy with the barrage of negative publicity that we've all been subject to. My only point here Jake is that the details I heard were first hand, from folks who worked with him, not the press who makes there money off of spreading rumors and lies to sell papers and magazines. I also have seen first hand some wonderful things this guy did for kids that were really sick or dying. Can't say I've seen the media do much good... ever.
im am the last person who would ever support the media. my point was not what the media was saying but what the victims or accusing parties have said thats all. not trying to start fights or anything. thats all.

stay safe

Hey Cap, thanks for clearing this one up a bit.... I have never been a fan of MJ's. I would probably be the first one to make some kind of joke about him. He was a wierd guy!!!!!

In anycase.... I knew this topic was going to show up eventually and was concerned that it was going to be some big hate fest twoards the guy. Thats exactly NOT what this site is intended for. So.... my opinion... the guy was crazy but talk about it somewhere else.

Thanks Cap
MJ Was apiece of SH*T!!! I don't wish anyone dead but what he did to the kids makes me sick!!!! I can't believe you put this on FFN!
Yeah I was really starting to get into his show, "Pitch Men".

I hate to think about whos going to be next. These things come on threes. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett & Micheal Jackson. Now Billy Mays. Stay safe everyone!
