so guys, what do you think of that law that requires you to have a CDL liscence PLUS you air brake permit PLUS your tanker permit???? and the best part is is you dont need all these requirements GOING to a call, its COMING HOME!
just wanna kno what your thoughts are......
its caused quite a stir, to say the least, in our hall
This sounds typical of New York, Put the carage before the horse. How Dum, you can drive the truck to the call
without a CDL, however you need a CDL to return the truck to quarters. What's wrong with this picture.
I feel for you brothers in New York.
I don't want yall to think that your the only state the is a little screwed up, here in South Carolina we have
to get a class E lic. It is the same test that they give for a CDL Class B, however they don't concider it to be
a CDL. A class E lic., is for those who drive a RV over 26,000 Lbs. What's up with that, just dum. All firefighters here that have a class E lic., should have been given a CDL Class B lic at the laest. By the way,
even though our trucks have air brakes we don't even get the endorsement for air brakes. On top of that we had to pay for this licence, when the fire department should have, we are driving for them.
Don't feel bad New York
sorry but this is a bunch of crap... say no one with the cdls make is to the call, what r u supposed to do leave the truck sit there, find a ride back for u and the rest of the people, and risk getting everything stollen off the truck... i think if u r able to drive the truck there u should be able to drive it back.. seeing as how u was in a hurry to get there and got there safe.. i think taking ur time and that one the way back u should be ok.. come on this is starting to get out of hand
Fire Chick you're right...ONLY you should not have been allowed to drive the truck in the first place. Fire Engines/pumpers/trucks etc. are not like driving your friends Toyota or Chevy or Ford.
By your same reasoning....If all we had on scene were people who were not qualified to fight fire, we should let them..because they are there!??!!??
This is why..if you are going to drive you should be QUALIFIED to do so. Qualified does not mean that you are "able" to drive, it means Qualified, certified, LICENSED!
Since you feel so "strongly" about this topic, would you go back to the previous page and answer m\y question? No one has had a good reason why you don't need a CDL other than the "good ole boy system". Also not trying to be critical but you are not texting type full words, your post is kinda hard to read.
