I was just wondering what type of Ladder Trucks do you have in your Departments.
Where I came from in New York, we had two ladder trucks. One was a 100 Ft. American
LaFrance Tiller, and the second was a 100 Ft. Mid Mount Seagrave. Just as I was leaving
the department was getting a 100 Ft. Rear mount Platform.
The Department I am with now has a 50 Ft. American LaFrance Squirt.
I will say that it is a much smaller Department I am with now, but I am hoping that
some day soon it will be replaced with a larger Ladder. It is 29 years old, and has been
a excellent truck, and still looks good for it's age.
My company has a county owned 100 ft rear mount Seagrave. This the second county truck that has been placed in our station.
The first one was a try out from another station to see if it would fit in. The ladder was one of those that had more weight and was causing damage to the floor.
The county has bought two identical ladder trucks and a quint with the same type of ladder that is not has heavy has the others they bought.
We bought this tower last year from our sister station in West Virginia. Its a 1973 Sutphen 85" tower mid mount. It was overhauled in 1996. We put abot 400 hours into it and did some new decals and alot of chrome and aluminumand wax cleaner. The first picture is after we were 80 percent done. The second is when we were looking at it. One h*** of a truck for her age
