Do any locals have a Standard of Conduct for off duty actions by union members? We have had some events recently with our off duty personnel getting arrested, or in trouble by other means, and there seems to be no reprecussion for their actions. There is nothing the department can/will do about the problem because the problems occur off duty.

So, I guess my question is this. Is there anything the union can do to "punish" these individuals within the union?

Just like Mr. Taylor said, It's up to the city or county or municipality to enforce rules of conduct. Then it would be the unions job to defend the individual. Wish I could offer more but thats pretty much it in a nutshell.
Our City has a codes of conduct that can definitely get you if you get in trouble off duty.
If you have a constitution and by laws or follow the Unions, there is a section under charges that would fit....Conduct unbecoming a union member. That is mostly the worst you can do.
