That is just awesome!!!!! What year is that?
we went to the lime green in the 80's to reduce our insurance premium and it has now become tradition. all the trucks in the county are different colors
3 depts lime green
1 black on red
3 white on black
2 all white
3 red
i was told this is to identify the trucks on a fire scene easier when they are all staged correctly
Well, my company decided that Green should be the proper color for our apparatus!

the color is slightly darker than the picture makes it seem.

I wasn't alive when the color was chosen back in the 1920s, but I'm told that it was picked because of the green meadows and farms surrounding the station. 80 years later, we currently have 5 front-line apparatus but very few farms left in our 21 square mile district. Our first station was built at the base of a very steep hill. Now, think about the early fire trucks and their power... now imagine one at full throttle trying to climb a very steep hill with a load of tools, water and firefighters. The smoke and flames shooting out the exhaust pipe gave us a mascot! "The Green Dragon emblem on all the trucks was started because one of their early green trucks was said to look like a big green dragon puffing up a hill to a fire."
I dont think it matters what colour they are, ours are Red but maybe if they had more lights it would be more noticable and beneficial :-)

Old subject...worn out....Not going there this time.......(By the way....YELLOW) LOL
the only color that matters is the red blood of the men and women who give themselves to the fire service. but FYI we have a red engine a red PT and a white and yellow medic!!
I talked to God and she said all fire engines should be red. If you don't believe her ask any kid.
Mostly red but our Chief suburban is blue and rescue is white with blue stripe. We also have this which we got a really good deal on and when our new one arrives (red) will move to the eastside so i won't see it much.

Personally I'm all about the red trucks. Thats about all there is around my area. But it isn't about the color of truck, as long as it gets the job done who cares what color it is?
Ours is red but I personally think the green makes a bigger statement and better seen
there is ONLY one color of Fire Truck. RED. Ever heard of Fire Engine lime green? I think not. Its Fire Engine Red. Its either Red or nothing at all.
