I WAS GIVEN THIS BY MY WIFE AND NOW I AM BRINGING IT TO YOU AND WOULD LIKE SOME FEEDBACK FROM FELLOW EMT'S / F.F.'S,

DEATH IS ALL AROUND ME AND STILL I GO HOME TO LIVE MY LIFE.
I GET KICKED,HIT,SPIT ON, BLED ON, PUKED ON...
I LOOK INTO THE EYES OF A LIFELESS CHILD @ 0700 HRS AND BY 0800 HRS I AM HOLDING MY CHILD A LITTLE TIGHTER AND THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED.
I HAVE HUNDREDS OF HOURS OF CLASSROOM TIME.
YRS OF EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD.
I HAVE CHALLENGED DEATH AND WON.
I'VE HELPED THE HELPLESS.
I'VE NEGLECTED MY FAMILY FOR YOURS.
I FIND COMFORT IN COMPLETE CHAOS.
I EAT COLD MEALS IF I EAT AT ALL.
I WORK WITH NO SLEEPFOR DAYS AT A TIME.
I MISS BIRTHDAYS,HOLIDAYS, AND SCHOOL FUNCTIONS.
I PUT MYSELF IN HARMS WAY FOR A TOTAL STRANGER ON A DAILY BASIS
WHY? BECAUSE I AM JUST AN AMBULANCE DRIVER!

DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR?

Of course the phrase "just an ambulance driver" is absolutely empty. Those of us who can relate to the words posted above know that what we do is for the satisfaction of helping others and knowing in your heart that you make a difference. We dont always rob the grave nor do we always bring people relief. That's up to our maker. But most importantly what did what we do to make a difference? AND only you can and will know that you did your best and gave it your all. Its important to encourage each and every one of us with those words.
good one..
Hear hear Chief
We have been called "Ambulance drivers" for yrs from the public. I've come to accept it and smile. The only time I get a lil irrate is when in 2009 we are called that when we walk into our own ER's from the staff member there. Give me a break..lol.
