yea we got new stuff a few months ago it just so happened i was already back at school and was also at school when we were all sized. one of the guys said they got extras which im hoping there is a set in my size. and we actually got our names on them now which is pretty sweet and we get to keep our old gear for training and to keep in our POV.... i keep mine in my POV all the time since i am normally pulling in as the truck is pulling out.

how do u guys like the leather helmets? im lookin at ordering one this year at the expo as an early christmas present to myself

hows the weight and balance? i have a Lion American Classic w/leather front and the thing weighs a ton and feels clumsy on my head. it has a ratchet adjustment but its kinda broke. it is a pretty new helmet though ive had it about 2 yrs but its only seen really lite duty since im away from home in college.

Fort Bayou Vol. Fire Dept got a FEMA grant that's gonna get us 10 sets of new gear, full ensembles from boots to the helmet. We put in for 25 sets but got the 10, I don't remember the exact amount awarded but anything your dept can get with free money is better than coming out the funds, even if it's one set lol. We just had 7 guys fitted for the new stuff and ordered 3 generic sizes. So it will soon be Christmas in March for us as well. :P

Yeah we got a FEMA grant to which gave us money to do 2 Mod 1 classes and a 1st Responder class new turnouts and msa air packs, a thermail imainging camera (Cant spell lol) and we also got state and county tax money with that we are buying a new engine refurbing our tanker and finishing our brush truck.

GOOD LORD MAN. You didnt have Xmas in march yall hit the freakin lottery. LOL Congrats. I know how much "leg" work goes inot getting a single dollar of grant money. Someone on your dept is very very good and writting paers explaining your needs. Folks the money is out there all you have to do is jump through THERE hoops to get it. It is there money after all. But is a few months of paper work worth the end result?? I would have to say yes froma a KS Vollie Dept.

nice, we've gotten grants every year for the last 5 years or so. we've gotten new structure and wildland gear, a new pumper, a thermal camera (which we get called mutual aid for alot), ff1&2 class, first responder class, new medical gear and a John Deere Gator that's set up with both a medical and pump bed slide ins. Our chief took the gator to the state fair to use for the fire dept there and they said it was perfect for the crowded area. so we know exactly what ya'll are going through
