We do not allow smoking during or after a fire. They smoke on their own time away from the Dept. After drill they go off City property away from City hall and smoke. Same with chewing tobacco.
I don't smoke and as of right now there is no smoking in the firehouse. We aren't suppose to smoke at an incident but after everything is done I have seen some of our guys lighting a cigarette. I don't remember there being a policy about what is acceptable or what isn't acceptable. It very well may change in the next couple of months if we get a new chief. He doesn't smoke and he hates the whole chew thing. That is the most disgusting thing, it stinks and there is spit all over the ramp where the guys are spitting. It is just gross...
What?? How come any employer can say, what you can do on your own time??
I do smoke. 10-20cigarettes a day...
In my new Firehouse, there is smoking place in vehicle bay. During practice evening there´s smoke break in middle of evening..
Old one had -no smoking- policy:
No smoking during the practice evenings
Smoking at fire scene, If you Really have to go for a smoke, do it in hide from a public.
Everyone knows PR value of cigarette smoking FF at side of the burning building.
where are you from? I wanna make sure I never move there LOL JK
Our local hospital is smoke free and I have seen patients roll across the street in a wheelchair to have a smoke
NO here is how you do it. Go buy a bag of bulk tabacco . Find and empty coffee can. Place tabaccoo in can. Place can right next to air intake for SCBA filling station. Light on fire and then procede to fill bottles. Might wanna mark the ones that are smoked as MARLBORO though so non smokers dont get them by mistake LOL
