MSA vs Scott / Morning Pride vs Globe

one of my departments are getting ready to order new gear for all of us and i was wanting others opinions on these two...

MSA vs Scott airpacks

and

Morning Pride vs Globe gear

any experiences with the equipment or manufactures would be helpful.

In my nearly 17 years in the biz, I've worn both MSA and Scott, and I can find no appreciable difference between the two in terms of performance. I think MSA makes the more comfortable mask for my face, and I think the pack/harness design is a bit easier to use on MSA, though I do like the design of the Scott mask in that one can talk to others while not sucking air, kind of a nice feature.

I just don't see that much difference twixt the two.............

Scotts and Globe. Been wearing both for forty years. Started with Scott 1,then the 2A,and now 2.2/4.5 50's.5 sets of Globe gear,each better than the last.

You lost me there. My neighbors have MSA,we're all Scott. I can "hook"in just as fast as my neighbors.Of couse I've been using this mask for over 20 years so that probably helps.What can be sinpler than red dot to top,quarter turn click? Obviously you've never had that MSA "track"ice up.That makes life interesting.

We use MSA packs and I really do not like them. The thing I do not like the most is the rail system that is used for our regulator attachment. It seems to stick alot and I have personally been in a couple situations were I am out of air and cannot get the regulator off. I am not the only one that has problems. I think I would have to recommend scott packs. I have never used them but have heard nothing but good things about them.

i soagree scott is the way 2 go and i love globe gear and dont forget 2 checkout the globe structural firefighting leather boots i have a set and the best ive ever owned hands down awesome check em out pplcall em a space boot but they fit like a glove on ur feet very comfortable and light weight

I don't know what Scott you've been using but ours transfill and you can disconnect once the equalize.

We have the Vikings from a grants about 5 years ago as well. We have not had any trouble with them, however, we only have about 40 runs a years, very few being packed up and on air calls. We are also running some of the old Elephant trunked Surviairs. They were giving to use second hand and we are in a real need to replace them as well. I have been looking to replace them with the newer Viking to keep a consistant stock for the dept.

What are the issues you all are having with them? I use Scott Packs at my full time dept and many of us have dificulty getting or maintaining proper seals with them.

Should we be looking at Surivair or another option?

Scott air packs all the way. I have used several types of packs and the Scott is by far the most user friendly, and they work great. With gear I have to say I liked both, I have worn both and don't have any thing negative to say about either.
