hi-vis vests. Someone is wearing them.

I came across this incident very shortly after it happened. If the link doesn't work, this involved a wrong way driver that caused a semi to jack-knife and dump his load on the free-way. The interesting thing is there are no FF or LE wearing vests. However, the reporter is.

Have u see any state cops wearing them b/c I haven't? Don’t get me wrong I think it is a great idea but no one is wearing them.

When that pic was taken, At least Haz-mat, a BC and an Engine were on scene.

That the thing there not that busy they just don't put them on. I saw one the other day that was on a motorist asst. the cop and the tow truck operator didn't have them on standing on the side of I57. And I am not looking for a fight here I just wandering if it was different around u.

Yes, We are wearing them. It is funny though watching the other departments. I am still wondering if everyone is even aware that the law went into effect in Nov of 08?

Hey, if I can get my dog to wear his. BTW I actually do. Our evening walks are now in the dark. I feel a little safer with him wearing the vest and a light.

We just put them on our Rescue/Extr. truck and issued Fire police their own version if the call doesn't require a Scott you will have a vest on

NJ Department of Transportation requires anyone operating on any road over 45 mph must have the high visability vest on at all times as long as they are not wearing an scba and doing firefighting opereations

i saw at least 5 or 6 guys wearing the vests so i think some are some arent well take care

No matter how hard you try, you'll still get some guys who don't want to wear them and they'll have to learn the hard way.

I'm with Boom Boom on this one. My F.D. as well as our P.D. all wear them. We've even got SOP's written for wearing vests.

Indiana just passed the law that all emergency responders must wear one of those vests. It has not gone into effect just yet but I know it is going to very soon. There is a set date but i'm not sure of it. Anyway, my dept. ordered the vests about a month ago and I think we will have them soon. Our plan is to always have them on our gear. ALWAYS!!! Everyone ordered a big enough size that it fits nicely over your turnout coat. And the type we ordered have velcro tear offs that you can quickly undo in case you are heading to a fire rather then an MVA. In reality though, at least my dept. runs WAY more MVA's then fires, i'd say we get 2-3 a week sometimes more depending on the weather. So it just makes sense to leave it on your coat. Also, the law passed requires all FF's to wear them, its not an option; which is how our officers also plan to treat the vests
