I know many of us full-time firefighters have second jobs on our days off. I work as an ambulance dispatcher on the side right now, but two jobs in emergency services is sometimes too much, so I was just wondering what everyone else does for side jobs. Thought I might be able to get some ideas for a new part-time job from everyone else.
I'm full time ff and I work at an ambulance service ( EMT-B/DRIVER) full time, and cement floors(staining, engraving, overlays, stamping, and etc.)when I have time.
I drive a truck during the work day . I go in at 2:45 am and get off usually by 2 at the latest. Volunteering is my second job. That is when I am not driving the van for Band students where my kids go to school , or babysitting for my sister-inlaw , all ontop of being a parent of two teenagers.
I dispatch full time and part time. Sometimes I get a little burnt out, especially on weeks like this week when i've got 24 hours of overtime on top of my reg 42 hours and then my 12 hours at my part time job. BUT I'm very lucky to have the positions that I have, and I wouldnt change it for the world!
I also volunteer about 12 hours a week at an ambulance company and as much time as I can at the fire department I just joined. All that and I STILL have time to take two pre-nursing classes and finish up my EMT course!!! hehe.
I used to sell Harley-Davidsons full time, at the same time as working in dispatch full time and at another dispatch center part time. I was working close to 100 hours a week - but I LOVED all of my jobs!! I didn't want to sacrifice any of them!!! I really enjoyed selling the bikes, but after a couple of months I just got burnt out. Once I bought my own Harley I never had time to ride it!!!
By the way, I CANT WAIT FOR WARM WEATHER. -10 degrees is for the birds!!
... okay so when i was born i almost got named sara. but because my mother knew about sara lee she thought that i'd be living with "nobody does it like sara lee" for the rest of my life.
little did she know, little debbie also had snack cakes. this is my destiny - i say this because it turns out that when i was little, i looked EXACTLY like the little girl on the little debbie snack boxes. redhair, freckles, cute nose. also, little debbie's slogan is "unwrap a smile" ... SO MUCH BETTER RIGHT
thankfully, i dont look like some type of atrocious advertising scheme, such as the michelin man or something to that sort.
