Personal goals in the begining of the year were accomplished we were able to vote in a close friend and a younger guy (20-25) as a 2nd assistant cheif which we needed change to help change some things about our station like responding w/o turnout gear and only lights(no sirens) no seatbelts, using our once a month drills to move things in the firehouse (nothing realated to the job) using booster lines on structure fires, entering a structure w/o a SCBA, pass or accountabilty system. Well we did sucessfully change a few of these problems but in december he lost the vote to stay as an assistant cheif so i have a feeling its just going to go downhill again this year well i hope somehow it we get back on track its a dangerous job nothing more nothing less. Its going to be an interesting year
Mike, believe me, I feel your pain. We also are a small town department with a mayor who doesn't understand why we respond to an mva. We also have had the old mindset of "the way we have always done things", but am happy to say is almost gone now. We have dismissed a few in the past year and I can see a real change happening before us.
Like many others have stated everyone on both departments I belong to came home safe from every call, Keeler Fire Rescue finally recieved our grant to upgrade to a nontransporting EMT first responder unit. Eau Claire Fire has reached our goal of a second set of jaws for station two. Good luck to everyone in the new year and I hope it is another safe one.
YES!!!!Hopkins County has made fire dues on property taxes!(You are allowed to OPT OUT) this has greatly increased our revenue so hopefully we can obtain new much needed equipment!
We met and exceeded my goals for the Dept this year. Started out the year with 32 Volunteers. We now have 42. I am very happy with where we are going and the improvements we've made in recruitment and retention. Our call volume went down as has been the trend for the last 5 years. More EMS calls and less fire calls.
We made alot of improvements at our staion. Goals where set to puchase 2 peices of equipment a rescue truck and a new brush truck and get them in service. And we did. We also strive every year to beat the total hours of training from the year before and we did by 20 hours. All in All we did a great job meeting goals for the 08 year.
As per my chief and training officer we escceded the State's new requirements..they were talking that we are ahead of State's new requirements...also we are going to get resolution pass in Township council that they assign two company facilities as training center...we will not burn anyting there but we will do trainings which do not require fire and can save money of department.....
I think we are in good shape....
With regards,
