Accountability
I was just curious as to what everyone uses for accountability tags. Below is a picture of what ours look like and how they are kept on our helmets. They are kinda big but it makes you want to take it off and give it to someone especially when packed up!

What you have is a toe tag system and everyone is tagged onto the same clip. This is about the worst thing you can have in today's age of tracking personnel and locations.
Ask them if a someone calls for help on the 2nd floor, and is unable to state his or her name, how is a big ass ring with 30 tags, going to determine who is where? Some of which are probably not inside the building.
We had this problem too, 15 years ago. Toe tag system because the last tag on the ring might be the guy your looking for, unfortunately by then... he is dead

The clear plastic thing is the pass alarm key, pulling it off activates the pass. The green plastic bit is the actual accountability tag.
Also, if you look closely, you can see the second tag between my index and middle fingers. that's attached to the D-ring on top of the PASS.
Sorry about the whited out bits but we recently got shouted at for posting any pictures with the department/company names or symbols in the internet. better safe than sorry. - Attachments:

Thanks, most of our guys have an integrated pass on our packs. Those that dont usually dont go in anywhere.

While I'm not sure if it's a law or anything, I've been told we wear our pass alarms on our coats in case you have to lose your pack. (breaching a wall or what have you) I've heard that it's ideal to have both.

The move has been on for some time to get everyone in the state of Illinois to use the Passport system, MABAS supported. Its progressing, and relativity cheep I just priced for a dept of 25, total system $350. That includes 6 tags per person. The next step will be to issue a card like your drivers license, with a barcode that will have all your certs on it, again state wide so during a deployment you’ll know incoming people are qualified.

Gordon, we have a two tag system which are green and red, each tag consists of the county we belong to , the fire departments name, our name our picture which is 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches with our allergies listed along with date of birth and the department address last but not least is the state fire department number, the whole tag is 3.5 by 2.25. the green one stays wih the truck you came in and the red one goes to the accountablity person when you enter the structure. if you respond by pv the green tag then goes tothe truck before you enter the fire grounds.

Our county provides everyones PATs. Our photos are placed on them and info about you some in bar code is on the front and back in case something happens to the wearer. If the wearer of the tag has to go to the hospital medical info is on the tag. They are clipped to your coat and before you leave the unit you clipped them to a ring in the cab and the driver collects them until the someone with the OIC collects them and places them on the board at the command unit.
