I was just wondering if there are any counties that still had volunteers left in this state because Hertford Co (where I Live) is not one of them. The county and it's money hungry commissioners came in and pushed all the volunteers out! Also possibly looking for a new squad to run with if close by.

Hello again Kimberlee!
Yes, there are a few most of them have incorporated in with a fire dept, or are using there facilities. Moore Co. for example has paid EMS but has 4-5 Fully Volunteer Ambulance/Rescue squads, not much turnout during the day but more in the evenings. Alamance is the same except county rescue is volunteer, but the majority of the fire dept's have there own rescue truck and service there district with there own volunteers. I'm both paid and volunteer currently with 15 yrs (vol) 9 yrs (paid). There are still some out there but as you said with budgets shrinking, and without some sort of help it may soon go the way of the dinosaur.
New Hanover County has Ogden-New Hanover which has paid and volunteer staff. They also do EMS for one of the Nascar races.
yup we're one of 2 franklin county squads that are still fully volunteer at night (during the day the county staffs a truck, and at night they provide a paramedic)
We still have volunteers in Moore county but the paid man is taking over slowly
yes we have about 3-4 vol/ paid department here in randolph county( where im from) and i apart of one of those im with west side vol. fire and rescue department but sadly i think soon they will all be going away
