The leather helmets are really nice but in my opinion i think they are a little heavy.Just think you are at a working structure fire your going to be there for long time with a helmet that ways at least 3-5 lbs. on your head verses a traditional helmet i've got a cairns 1044 and i love it.

I don't think you can go wrong with one. I've heard they are heavy but I've been wearing one for 10 yrs now and I think it's fine.

Well my department i'm on we wear cairns 1010 and they are pretty heavy too.

Our officers have the leather the rest of us the standard helmet.

Cairns has been making helmets since the 1800's.
