I'm looking for a mount to secure my HP camera to my truck. Inside, of course. What do you guys use? I've not been able to find much on the internet so I need some help. Somthing cheap yet stable. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I used to be a photojournalist, prior to waking up and becoming a firefighter. Bogen makes a product call the super clamp. It can be mounted anywhere. I have used them to mount several thousand dollar set ups in the ceilings above basketball hoops, etc. They are not too terribly expensive either. But, they work and are designed to what you are looking for.
All we did was put velcroe tape on the camera case and on the dash of our truck. Hope you find something that works for you.
yes, I have kicked around using velcro. Is it strong enough though is my only question. Besides, my USB and batt. chamber is on the underside of the camera. Any ideas how to use velcro w/o losing that?

Brooks, I've not been able to locate that product on the internet; do you have a URL you may give me to use?

Thanks.
Cut around the batery door and the cable plug. We went thru all the bullshit of trying to mount camaras on our tower and our rescue pumper, The city mechanic was afraid of it becoming a flying projectile in a rollover crash? So after several tries to get the city to purches a mount, and actully buying one and him still not wanting to install it ( Because he is the only one that can) I just took velcro and slapped it on there. Works great, holds great nice and stable, Go for it just make sure you get the heavy duty stuff not the craft crap. Oh and as far as the flying projectile problem i told him "if we roll the truck, I think we have bigger problems to worry about then a small camara"
Sounds great guys, thanks. I'll get some velcro and put her on. Thanks agian.
Check out Techmount at

http://www.techmounts.com/

I use one for my motorcycle and they are great. They're made for motorcycle mounting, but can be mounted in othe places as well.

The only thing is they want you to use velcro to stick your camera to the mount, but if you go to the ahrdware store and pick-up a 1/4" -20 bolt and nut you can use the mounting socket on your camera.

Using a Techmount, or similar will get the camera up off the dashboard and give you a better view for the camera. The mount won't melt and you can change out cameras without changing the camera position...unless you want to.
