I am 6'10" and have a size 40 inseam.

I was just curious because I have walked into ceilings in some of the smaller houses in my community. My Chief hates to order my bunker gear because the factory calls back over and over again to make sure they are making the right size. And last but not least, it is hard as hell to find clothing, station uniforms and boots that fit me.

Just wondering if anyone else had this problem or something similar to it, or is it just me?

David, I know exactly where you're coming from. I am only 5' 10", but the units we used to have had no headroom in the pt. comp.. Thank God our new trucks are taller in the back! I can now stand up and still have a couple of inches overhead. Though that would not help you I know. The overhead handrails are also now reccesed into the ceiling so I don't crack my head on them all the time!
As for the bunker gear issue, I am a rather large girl and they had to special order my gear. It really sucks to have to wait so long to get gear, and there are still parts of it that just don't fit right like the chest area. In order for the bottom of the coat to close over my big butt, the chest is huge, swallows me whole and makes it such fun to get my mask on and my hood over it. The hood bunches up around my throat, ugh, an uncomfortable mess. I usually end up doing medical and rehab anyway, so I don't fight with it too much!
I am 5'3 and 110 lbs my hubby is 6'7, 350lbs, size 15 boot we both have problems with gear. My firt gear the pants were the right length but the waist was a 40 men's. (I need about a 28 women's) The coat hung to my knees and the sleeves went to the middle of my hand. I looked like the stay puffed marshmellow man. My hubby's gear is usually too short and has to be sent back at least once. I always hate measuring day for class A's, coveralls, and turn out gear. Being odd sized has never felt so normal:)
I ain't odd-sized....just large sized. My bunker gear fits me fine but the pants are looong, because I guess they figured someone who needed big pants would be tall. Its not so much a problem, unless I get down on the ground; I gotta pull on my pantlegs to get back up! I feel like I'm shuffling around in a sleeping bag. But I'm working on it. :)
I have that same issue but going the other way...I am 4'11 and size 4 1/2 in boot....I have found that I have to pay extra for all of my equipment due to my size. I understand how you feel. Very frustrating process.
i'm 6 ft. and the chief says he cant order leather helmets for us because my fitted ball cap size is 7 3/4.this is a pain since i have to rachet my helmet almost all the way out an it doesn't sit on my head right and wont stay on when i have a mask on.And boots are a pain too,i wear a size 12,it sucked when i joined because i got issued a size 9.I had to dig through a closet of old gear for 12s.I've been in 8 years and finally got a new pair.An every set of gear i've ever had,new or hand-me-down has never fit right.
I would just like to say its the same for the short and heavy people also. You tall guys have to add length and the short ones have to take it away lol.
