but this is true of paid as well. certainly true for paid ems. the rule of emergency services is if u need u better make cause u aint got it.

my first chimney fire ps my second fire scene (first 1 was a car fire) chief say Kimmie get the board off 44. so i walk over completely perplexed as to where the hell we would keep a long board on the engine (6 years of ems experince) i knew we had a stokes basket on the rescue truck but damn i was new but pretty sure we didnt have one on the engine. So i asked the guy pumping where the long board was, he laughed and said hey dumby i think you want the acct. board. yeah i was new!

My first Captain had a little lazy streak in him so here are two of his: 1. Never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lay. 2. Never touch anything with a handle because it's a tool and you'll have to do some work. He was a great role model!
