Texting While Driving PSA: Too Graphic? Appropriate?

Post your thoughts on this British public service announcement about the pitfalls of texting and driving for teens (and adults too, for that matter). It is graphic, and includes the emergency response to the incident. The video is about four minutes long.

We're asking the same question to members of our fire, EMS and law enforcement communities to see if (and how) the reaction to the video differs.

I am agreeing... graphic, yes, Efffective OH HECK YEAH! Appropriate for TV, I see no problem, but I also agree with the other posters that people will whine about it scaring young children... Well guess what, you scare them early, they might think more later. We have raised a too soft society by coddling our kids already!

very powerful message with this one. I know I'm going to stop texting while driving.

I thought it was very powerful. We should make one just like it here in the U.S. Although I fear as wishy washy as we are about offending people here in the States, I don't think the U.S. video will be anywhere near as powerful, even though like Jenny Swanson said: it's no more graphic than the movies we pay to see.

Its a shame that this video needs to be shown to the public just to make people pay attention. Everyone young and old should be made to watch it. Nobody seems to care until it happens to a loved one.

This is the new "Blood On The Highway" movie for this new generation. This should be in every Driver's Education class in the Unithed States. Old enough to get a permit and drive, old enough to see the video. Graffic, hell yes. Just what all these blood and guts movie loving kids need. Appropriate, you bet, 100%. This is the video to wake up these kids and their commatose parents. "DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE" "HANG UP AND DRIVE"

wow that is definently appropriate to air.

Maybe not do anything then Walter? The UK don't even consider if their public announcement ads offend. They just show them. You should see some of their Xmas drink/drive ads.
Won't work in the States though, in a country which blurrs out as much as a bare backside on any TV program. There would be far too many mothers complaining that it upset "Little Billy" too much.

Graphic? Yes. Appropriate? You bet.
My understanding is that it has not yet passed U.S. censors... A shame that our youth can see sex and drugs on TV, but not this PSA.

Wow... show it in every school worldwide.

It don't get more real then that. I agree, that all kids getting their license should have to watch that.
